NYC PROGRAM AND PARTNERSHIP INTERNS

 
Part-Time Position – College or Graduate Students Needed

Are you interested in working with one of the top public schools for girls in the country?

The Young Women’s Leadership Network, a 501c3 non-profit organization, is looking for graduate student interns to work at The Young Women’s Leadership Schools in New York City. The Young Women’s Leadership Schools (TYWLS) is a network of single-gender public schools focused on college preparation and female adolescent development with a goal of college acceptance for all students.  The YWL Network provides in-school, after-school, and summer opportunities for TYWLS students that focus on leadership, early college awareness, health and wellness, and math, science, & technology. 

 

We are looking for a total of four interns to support our programs. We will place one intern at each of the following TYWLS locations: Brooklyn, Astoria, Jamaica, and East Harlem.  You must be available approximately 20 hours per week from September through June. As the school’s intern, you will work with school staff on a regular basis and will report to the YWLN Director of Programs and Partnerships.

 

Your specific responsibilities will include:

·    Researching student program opportunities for the school population as needed

·    Planning programs, trips and special events with partner organizations

·    Communicating with school staff, partner organizations and program staff

·    Conducting and analyzing program evaluations and surveys

 

In order to qualify for the position, you must meet the following criteria:

·    College junior or senior or graduate student with interest in education, public policy, non-profit management, social work, social policy or related field

·    Commitment from September 2009 – June 2010 (with opportunity to continue in future school year based on results of mid-year and end of year evaluation)

·    GPA of 2.7 or above

·    Confident working with inner city middle and high school girls, peers, and supervisors in a team-oriented environment

·    Sense of teamwork and willingness to work in a group setting

·    Model  leadership and professionalism at all times

·    Attend 1-2 intern training sessions
